Using Translations from SDL MultiTerm

 

PowerTranslate can display translation suggestions from SDL MultiTerm databases. This includes both SDL MultiTerm desktop databases and SDL Server MultiTerm iX databases. Translation suggestions are displayed in the Translator Toolbar in the Reference Window. Translation consistency can also be checked using SDL MultiTerm databases.

The symbol denotes that a term has comes from an SDL MultiTerm termbase.

Fuzzy Searching

SDL MultiTerm termbase can be fuzzy searched  for exact or similar term matches. Select Tools - Options - Glossary and select Activate Fuzzy Search to configure this type of searching.

Using SDL MultiTerm Glossaries with the Translator Toolbar

To configure Alchemy CATALYST to display translation suggestions from an SDL MultiTerm database:-

  1. Go to Tools -> Options and select Glossary from the list provided.

  1. To use an SDL MultiTerm database for terminology lookup and consistency checks, click the  button.

  1. Select a MultiTerm database from the Termbase list or click MultiTerm Server if your termbase in stored on a central server.

You can specify an unlimited number of glossary files using this method A group of regular expressions that are applied to a file during insertion. These identify the text to be extracted and presented for translation. and each time a term is found it will be displayed as a translation suggestion in the reference window of the Translators Professional linguist specializes in the localization of web site, online help systems and software applications. Checking translation consistency with an SDL MultiTerm glossary

Use PowerTranslate toolbar to check translations for consistency with an SDL MultiTerm glossary. The SDL MultiTerm glossary needs to be defined in the PowerTranslate Glossary list.

  1. Click the button to check translations to the content of an SDL MultiTerm glossary file.

  2. Any inconsistencies found during this operation will be displayed in the Results Toolbar.
